In case you’re wondering what’s on that bike …
Are you planning on following the Empire State Riders this year? All the cool kids are! Just follow #ESR17 and #NYC2NF on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to get updates from the 100+ riders who are cycling 546 miles across New York State with one mission: to win the fight against cancer. You can also see a feed of all the Empire State Ride social posts right on the homepage of our website: www.EmpireStateRide.com
As you follow these riders, you might see something mysterious on one of the rider’s bikes: a flame inside an antique bike lamp. The flame represents the spirit of Roswell Park Cancer Institute – the commitment and passion to win the fight against cancer. This flame was introduced during The Ride For Roswell this year as part of the unveiling of the new ceremonial torch for this annual fundraising ride. You can read more and watch a video about The Ride For Roswell and the ceremonial torch here.
Founder of the Empire State Ride Terry Bourgeois has also been an active member of The Ride For Roswell volunteer steering committee for many years. Terry will be carrying the flame from New York City to Niagara Falls as a symbol of Roswell Park’s continuing commitment and passion in pursuit of a cancer cure. If you’d like to support us in this fight, you can make a donation to one of our riders here, or call our offices to make a general donation to the Empire State Ride – 716-845-3179.
