Here’s a few questions and tips to help you with your fundraising:
Have you asked everyone you know? Don’t be afraid to ask again!
Cancer affects everyone, and people want to help you. Think of it this way ― by asking for donations, you’re giving your donors a gift: the opportunity to make a difference. And if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.Be sure to think outside of your network — ask your business contacts, doctors, postal carrier and so on. Ask people who have already donated to you if they could help you spread the word by sharing your fundraising page with people they know.
- Remember, almost half of donors don’t donate after the first ask. Life gets in the way sometimes, and a friendly reminder can be key – so ask again!
Do your Facebook friends and Twitter followers know WHY you’re riding?
Sure, you may have asked your friends and followers for donations, but did you tell them why you’re riding? We’ve all been affected by cancer in one way or another. Whether you ride for yourself, for a loved one or simply for the cycling challenge, share your story through your social media posts. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so don’t forget to include one!You can also get creative and film a short video on your phone about why you ride. Posts with images and videos get more response than those without. Make sure to tag Empire State Ride and use #NYC2NF and #ESR17! Need some inspiration? Check out the videos below (and feel free to share those, too!)
Have you thanked your donors?
Not only is it the right thing to do, but it’s also another way to talk about your fundraising efforts on your social media channels. Give your donors a social shout-out to thank them for their support! Tag them so their friends can see they are supporting you, this great event and this great cause. It will help add a little buzz to your fundraising efforts, and it will recognize your donors for being awesome!
Have you thought about raising your goal?
Impressed by the support you’ve received so far? Then keep going – every dollar makes a difference in the fight against cancer. Donors want to help you reach your goal, and they will give to help you get there. If you’ve met your goal, increase it, and keep striving to raise more funds for cancer research.
